Plants To Suit Your Style

Whether you choose to create a traditional, formal garden with hedges, statues and manicured lawns or something more natural that brings the outdoors in, it’s best to have your plantings planned out first. We will plan your garden with consideration to how it will look at different times in the year. In winter, some gardens can look bare when flowers go into hibernation, however we will plan winter features into your design to keep it looking fresh all year round. Mulching

As well as being part of our winter maintenance programme, we can carry out mulching and membrane laying at any time of year.

Mulching is the application of material (from horticultural and arboriculture waste, forest bark, pea shingle or stone chippings), onto beds and borders.

Mulching suppresses weed growth, keeps moisture in the soil and assists new planting in times of drought. As well as providing those benefits to the plants, mulching is often used for visual enhancement.

In case your mulch starts to smell more like vinegar, it can be a sign of mulch decomposing. This tends to result in the mulch developing toxicity which can kill the plants around.

There are various ways to reverse the toxicity around mulch and each case might be slightly different. If this happens in your garden get in touch with us and we will be able to assist you further.

Membranes

Membranes are permeable liners that we lay down on to soil to protect the soil from certain mulching materials, or where very low maintenance of beds and borders is preferred.

Membranes can be cut easily to allow planting into the soil below and help to suppress the weeds from growing.

When using membrane you can still water the ground as the water and air keep flowing. This will keep the ground healthy and support the plants.

Lawn Laying

When Garden Care Services lays a lawn, we follow a specific, tried and tested method to ensure a rich and healthy result. Before any turf is delivered, we take time removing organic matter from the soil and rotovating it before applying quality screened topsoil.

During this process, we continually check that the surface is as level as possible whilst assisting maximum drainage. Next, we lay high-grade amenity turf and roll it for a smooth, carpet-like finish.

Lawn Care

For your new or existing lawn, we offer services including scarification and spiking as well as the application of fertiliser and weed killer.

Delivered effectively, these combine to produce a healthier lawn which is not only greener and more attractive, but also robust and more drought resistant.

These services can be applied at any time or as part of our regular maintenance programmes.

Free Planting Scheme

Once we have seen your garden, we will be pleased to provide you with a planting scheme, free of charge and bespoke to your garden and its characteristics.

The scheme will include naming and positioning plus itemised pricing. Low maintenance schemes are popular, with styles including Japanese, Formal, Mediterranean, Rustic, Cottage etc.

We guarantee all our plants for the first year, replacing any losses unless caused by water shortage.

Tree Surgery

Our qualified tree surgeons and arborists can maintain and manage your trees, regardless of size or type.

Whether you are looking for tree felling, stump grinding or reducing/removing the crown of your tree – we are here to help.

Our team have a wealth of experience as we have dealt with trees in the local area for over twenty years!

We understand the risks and dangers involved with larger trees and take the necessary precautions to ensure the job is completed carefully and leaves your garden looking great.

In addition to pruning and shaping of all tree types (normally during the winter months), we undertake tar washing of fruit trees to minimise the impact of disease, prolong life and improve appearance.

Decking in Bromley

We cover the ground area with permeable membrane and pea shingle to prevent weed growth and, for your safety, we always use balustrades where the deck is 2 feet or more above ground.

The decking can be used for steps, paths, patios and seating.

We sink support posts in at least 2 feet of concrete to ensure stability and reduce the chance of leaning and all the timber we use is pre-treated with preservative.
