Mulching and Membranes

As well as being part of our winter maintenance programme, we can carry out mulching and membrane laying at any time of year. Mulching is the application of material (from horticultural and arboriculture waste, forest bark, pea shingle or stone chippings), onto beds and borders.

MulchingĀ suppresses weed growth, keeps moisture in the soil and assists new planting in times of drought. Membranes are permeable liners which we lay down on to soil to protect the soil from certain mulching materials, or where very low maintenance of beds and borders is preferred. Membranes can be cut easily to allow planting into the soil below.
